Artist Statement

I have always been draw to popular cultural images in the form of tabloid magazines, consumer ads and television and my role in watching or participating in them. Who and what I see in magazine ads are not always the truth of my world and at times I want to believe these images because it is easier. My work consist of photo assemblage found images, cutting, tearing, layering and reposition fragmented photographic images from old vintage magazines ads that I believe tell a story that I can’t or won’t believe of myself and try to create my own story of belonging. I am also working on a series of photo assemblages of tabloid mega movie stars and of media childhood experiences.
