Matthew Pelletier

Artist Statement

Cinema and stories are two sources of entertainment that have always stirred my interest. I find dramatic landscape to satisfy what I seek to portray within photography. Growing up in Northern Maine has fueled that desire to capture such landscapes. I have spent a lot of time in the Northern Maine woods and feel that every place I photograph in this area is home. Along with landscapes, another area of interest in photography is miniature sets. These sets serve as stories. The two seen here depict general memories from my childhood where my siblings and childhood imagination are prominent aspects to those stories. Home has been a common thread in much of my work. Whether it is through story, cinematic form, or even both together, my photographs for me are an appreciation and adoration of my roots.
