Over the past year and a half I have found that my work has become increasingly more about travel and the city. I moved from Boston to New Hampshire when I got married in June of 2006 and have been commuting since on a daily basis. The most powerful thing I’ve taken from what I am going through is that the artifice of the light at night presents both beautiful and strange anomalies. When tired and half asleep riding in a car or bus, these views become both dreamlike and animated. Now, I am attempting to capture this animation and create it using flashlights and a 4x5 working in color. The work of Tokihiro Sato played a pivotal role in changing my thoughts about how I could and can photograph.
